6th Annual Butterfly Circle of Friends 5K, Remembering Michael

Today was the 6th Annual 5K/1 Mile walk in Thompson Park, Monroe Twp, NJ. Despite the weather being cold and rainy for our 5K the overall day was filled with warm hearts and plenty of tears (happy tears). 70 participants did not let the weather stop them from coming to run or walk in remembrance of Spc Michael L Gonzalez  who died in Baghdad, Iraq, 10 years ago on August 28, 2008.

A  donation for Mission 22 was presented to our volunteer Sammy who is an Ambassador in NJ for Mission 22. Our overall male runner Damien with a time of 19:13 setting  his pace at 6:12 after he completing his run he showed us what "leaving no man behind" means. He went back to run with others to encourage them not once, or twice but three times. Did I mention he is 14 years old and carried an American Flag the whole time?

Thank you to all of our sponsors and to those who participated in our 6th Annual,  5K/1 mile walk.
